Cuts metal like mad
The Z22 block has the same deck height as the L20b... so don't stress about it too much. Throw the Z22s pistons, rods (Z22s same as L20b), and crank (Z22e and S are same) in a 2mm overbored L20b block and the a87 head... for approximately 10.3 compression. Good. KPGC10
did you use Z SU's or the 38mm su's? I would figure Z su's. 2" round-top Z carbs. Also, as Mike noted, I made some typos. Lack of sleep sucks! Z22 block, L20B full counterweighted crank, Z20E 6" rod, VG30E hard anodized piston (Quest/Villager), and a worked U67 is good for a driver. I did a similar 11:1 pump gas motor with a good (210cfm intake/140cfm exhaust w/44mm-I/38mm-E) U67, a pretty stout cam (268@.050" & .570" lift on a 108 degree L/C), and a pair of 48 DCOE's for a customer a couple of years back that made 181RWHP. Not an ideal commuter by any stretch of the imagination (even for you hardcore Datsun sickos), but a hell of a fun weekend warrior. :D Quote Link to comment
budsaipan
So with that setup, do you need to bore out the engine to fit the vg30e pistons on there? Quote Link to comment
KPGC10
Both engines are 87mm bore. All the ones I have done have been bored oversize. Quote Link to comment
