Z-train
I'm approaching the start-up point of the wifes truck and i'm down to the chicken shit details that seem to be going south just to spite me. Awhile back i got a water pump/fan clutch from the parts store. The guy asked does it have A/C?I said yes.So he hands me a box and away i go.I install the pump.Today i got to fit the fan and it doesn't fit.WTF..over?I realize that the clutch is L-24 size.So back to the store i go.He asks,is it factory A/C?I said,no.He then hands me the correct pump/clutch which is the "non-A/C" one.Everything fits.Cool. Now the question is-on factory A/C trucks, what changed-the fan O.D. or the fan shroud?A factory L-24 fan would fit but would not clear the stock 620 fan shroud. So either they shortened up the fan blades or used a different fan shroud. Quote Link to comment
HRH
Being an AC vehicle probably taxed the cooling system, so likely it's a bigger fan. Quote Link to comment
Z-train
RIght. THe 620 fan is 7 blades and smaller than the 8 bladed L-24 fan which would fit and work, but not with the factory shroud. Quote Link to comment
