Yes... misread the post. Yes it will be long at 31.5". Yes it is actually an FS5W71B type. Again it is a NAPS bolt pattern and will need the front case from another FS5W71B with the L series bolt pattern in order to fit your L16.

Because it is longer your drive shaft will need shortening and the tranny mount modified to fit it. This is a nice up grade though. The FS5W71B is a nice strong transmission.

The ratios are:

1st... 3.321

2nd... 2.077

3rd... 1.308

4th... 1.000

5th... 0.864

It's a long shot, but watch for '77-'79 200sx. These had the L series engine and the dogleg tranny that is about 26" long, a perfect swap into the 510 sedan or wagon. Another car is the '78 through '80, A-10 (later HL510) which is equipped with the optional FS5W63 5 spd dogleg. In the US the '80 A-10 changed to the NAPS motor, in Canada the '81 model was the first year for the NAPS. Even if you find a NAPS dogleg, I would grab it if the price is right. There aren't a lot out there so it could be kept as a spare that could have the front case half swapped for an L series bolt pattern. Or sold to someone who wanted to do this.

Corrected.
