stevensonDNL
I bought a used '78-'79 620 series chrome grill in excellent condition that I couldn't live without. I think it'll look nice on my '77 620 KC in place of the original grill, but when I took off my original and tried mounting the chrome one yesterday, it didn't fit quite right. It didn't want to slip under the headlights easily, and I don't want to break it. I could get one side in place, but the other side would pop back out, and vice versa. Possibly the front bumper has been banged in slightly at it's point by a former owner. When reinstalling my original grill, it drops right back in. Any thoughts? Dan Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The older grilles flex more. The bolts have the exact same location, so they swap over. If anything's bent in the slightest it won't go easy so you're just going to have to make it go, or take the bumper off first. Quote Link to comment
stevensonDNL
OK Datsunaholic, I'm glad you say they are interchangeable. I'll proceed real patiently, even if I must take off the bumper first. Thanks! (You're down there by McChord, aren't you?) Gratefully, Dan Quote Link to comment
420n620
actually the earlier grills w/ the Stainless Steel rings is taller then the ones used for the later years, not sure when they changed. I'll get a pic's up later to show ya. this will make the gap at the top (when you pop the hood) a little harder to open the hood.. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Yeah, close enough to hear the C-17s taxi. Can get pretty noisy. I have a '78 grille on one of my '76s, and I found that the straighter the truck the easier they go on. Just one little tweak of the core support makes them very difficulty to install. 420n620
after putting my early style and later style 620 grills together (spooning) the only differants found (beside HL design) was the front top leading edge was the only differants. My fingers are pointing that out. the early style was about 1/2 taller on the front top edge. Quote Link to comment

420n620
I've got a 76 that doesn't have a grill and the early style in pic is a NOS. I'm saving that for a future 620 ... :D Quote Link to comment
