hang_510
dont have the links handy, but paulo(<-- search that name) makes a great color coded diagram. youll need to know if it was originally an auto or manual to get the correct one. Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
olddatsuns.com read everything on there first. a HAYNES manual will have a wiring diagram on page 181 head lights dont work?????? the lights should be hooked on on the +side of battery. To confurm this get a cheap test light(BUY ONE!!!!!) groun th alligator end to ground the put the pointy end on any of the 3 prongs(lowbeam lamp) or 2 prongs Highbeam lamp. with lights switch off inside the Test lamp should be ON!!!!!!!!! if not then power is not making it to the lamps via the fusebox or since you live in Hawaii maybe higher corression. ck the fuses best but another set in there as some break inside but looks good. soemtime reaseating the connectors to the fuse box will fix this also. pull switch and see if it works. also there is a relay near the strut tower by the fuse box(across it) that is the High beam relay. make sure that is connected goos also. Reaset connector if its a connector type plug. Quote Link to comment
HawaiianDatsun510
u guys are simply awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! any tips on getting the brake lights and dash gauges working? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Is ther power anywher on this car??????? on the starter lug there is a another wire where the bat cacle hooks up. this feeds the fuse box. Ck it. as for the brake lights its the horn fuse that works the brakes lights. But tail lights Im not positive as I never had them go bad. I will assume the fuse area also. If you ck at the switch under neath. USE taht new test light(volt meter will work also) see if 12volt is on one side of the swithc .If not then no pwer is going to it. I would ck fuse box or ck the wires that are under the passenger side under glove box. Jap cars including your TOYOTA use mostley Switchable ground. that means the POwer side of battery is hooked up via the fuse box. Its when you pull a switch, hit the hornbutton ect then it completes the circut with a ground. So when using a test light your making sure they is Power to the circut your cking(test light), then work you way back Edited July 25, 2009 by banzai510(hainz) Quote Link to comment
