frozen plug

If you look to the back of the head where the heater hose typically attaches there is an allen head plug. This thing is way stuck. Any thoughts on removing it?

Looks like there is some of it sticking out. Get some BIG vise grips. Smack it with a hammer a couple of times.

i would find an allen head to fit that, then on your socket wrench use a cheater bar for some leverage.

 

 

 

or if you are brave, put a breaker bar on there and try that, use a small sledge to pop it loose. or use the breaker bar with a cheater bar on it. if you need an example i can run and take a quick pic

Soak it in PB blaster for a day or two,then use a torch to heat the head up.The aluminum will expand quicker and it should spin out.

I tried post reply one and two (no vise grips needed, allen) but haven't tried heat.

The trans drain plug in my swift was so stuck that I rounded out the hold and eventually had to take it to a garage and they almost couldn't get it out. They torched it, drilled it out and broke two easyouts in the process! But it finally came out. That thing had to be torqued to 200 ft.lbs or something when it should have been 13-20!!

 

I think these guys with their air tools way over do it sometimes!!!

Bigass flat head screwdriver and a big vice grip on the shaft of the screwdrive. Get one that jams in there good and deep. (With the assistance of a hammer) Normally works. But only do it as a last resort.
