OK I should know this! The breather tube on top of the valve cover, does it SUCK or does it BLOW??:blink:

And if it blows hard your rings are pooched, as in blow by.

It normally, 99.9% of the time, allows air IN to replace combustion and water vapor that is drawn past the PCV valve into the intake by intake vacuum. In rare cases of heavy throttle or worn rings the blow-by exceeds the PCV valve's ability to draw it in and flow reverses OUT the valve cover breather.

 

If it blows that sucks.

Man there I go again not even thinking of the PCV valve on newer but still old cars.

 

A very light suck is a good thing.
