  1. Spent some time cleaning up the underside and lowering the stance this week. With 2" lowering blocks in the rear and adjusting the front torsion arm bolts out, I was able to drop it 2.75". Looks way better in my opinion. Before and after photos attached.

Sent some hardware from the engine bay in for yellow zink plating. Hoping to have it back next week.

Had the valve cover polished. I know this is not the way they came, but I would bet the truck had this done for show purposes.

  2. According to the hood, the truck was pinstriped in 1973 by "Corky". I googled his name and the geographic area the truck was from. I came up with his obituary from 2006 and this funny story written by a friend of his. Sounds like he was a cool guy.

  3. So I spent some time on the interior this weekend. I realized that all of the "gold" areas were originally black and had just faded in the sun, I tried a fabric spray paint and after 2 hrs of masking I think it looks way better.

  4. JCCS is on the list of shows to bring it to. Hoping to take it to Pete's open house in NV as well. Sadly, both are in October.

I can't make out any numbers on the shocks sorry. On that subject, I am intstalling 2" lowering blocks on the rear. Will I need to put longer shocks on to accomplish this? If so, does anyone have a model number that works?

The rims sure polished up nicely!

  5. It's a 73 with souped up numbers matching L16. Front dam is BRE part along with a bunch of other parts. Here is the story board that came with the truck. The paint is cleaning up super nice!

  6. Started a thread on FB about this but figured I would post it here as well. I'm new to the 620 scene but a long time Datsun nut. Just picked up this 620 that was customized from brand new. Last oil change sticker is from 1988 and it has only been driven 1,000 miles since. In the process of cleaning her all up and will take her to a few shows in So Cal. At 6'-6" I can barely even get in it so it won't be a long-term hold LOL

  7. T56 Magnums seem to be the transmission of choice if you are going for 3 pedals. You honestly don't need the power of an LS3 for a daily driver. 300-325 HP at the rear wheels will be plenty, and is pretty easily obtained from an LS1 with some simple mods

Check with JCI to see if there parts will fit 260's. I have never owned a 260, so I don't know the differences

  8. I was in the airport on my way to the Monterey Historic races last year when a guy in line behind me noticed my Datsun shirt and started talking to me. He was telling me about the 510s he had before and asked me if I had ever seen on the internet where some "stupid guy put an S2000 engine in a 510"? I asked him if it was yellow and white and he said" yes, so you have seen it?" To which I answered, "yes, I am the stupid guy that built it" LOL

Ran into him at JCCS about a month later and it was all cool

  9. Here is a 72 240Z I am just finishing up. It has an LS1/T56 swap, Recaro seats, Auto-power roll bar, R-200 LSD with CV half shafts and electric power steering. 275-50-17 rear, 245-45-17 fronts. Blue is a Chrysler blue pearl coat. Vintage heat and air partially installed

  10. I have done a few 240Z LS swaps.

I get the parts from Johns Cars. Same company as Jags that run. Good fitment and super affordable

If you get an LS1/T56 combo from an F body (camero, firebird, GTO) you are good to go. Shifter location is perfect

300hp is plenty in these cars. Super fun

  12. I bought a 280-Z with a duel pick up electronic ignition distributor in it. The PO had ripped all of the wiring out and I am trying to figure out how to wire this to a stock coil. There are three wires, red, brown and green. The green wire goes to both pick-ups and the red and brown wires to one pick-up each.

    Anyone have experiance with this?

    Thanks
