  1. Howdy, new guy here picked up my first datsun in early march. I eventually will start a build thread for the car, but it won't be too exciting as I imagine it will be a slow moving one. I have owned a small variety of cars, love classics especially. I have owned a handful of motorbikes and: 1974 Super Beetle 1980 Rx7 1985 Subaru GL dual range 4x4 5 speed I enjoy cars and consider them one of my primary hobbies. About a year ago I bought a 1986 Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo for $750 since the deal was right. My wife gave me the mindset that if I decided not to keep it I could always sell it for profit. After months of enjoying it and making small improvements someone bought it from me for $1250. I was still (including taxes and registration) in it for less than $900. Cool now I can shop for the next car. Well I was hooked. I eventually sold my 1972 Super Beetle that I bought with keeping in mind. I had laid out a plan, my wife never though I could stick to it because I would want to keep them all. This is true, and since its a hobby, I am only buying cars I would enjoy. The plan is to buy and sell cars, keeping two around at all times. This way while I work on one, I can drive the other. After a few years of buying, fixing and enjoying different cars I would buy a project to build and keep. Budget builds with the idea of keeping profit in mind is not the most exciting dreaming, but is fun. Well my wife was right, I would want to keep one eventually. I found an add for a 1975 B210 that is pretty solid and clean in the ad. Listed at $1200 running and driving. I had no intention of buying it, because it wasn't what I was looking for in a flip. I had been toying with the idea of a classic Japanese car for my next for keeps project. The more I looked the more I loved the lines. I am a sucker for 2-door sedans and notch backs. Next thing I know I am sending one of my employees (whose father owns his share of datsuns and her brother is a member here) out to look at it because I cannot work out the time. Later that night the car was at my house. The negotiated price was not quite what I was hoping for, and the body is not as good as hoped, but the rot is seriously minimal. Bumps and dents are a plenty though. I don't think theres a single panel that doesn't need a little love. I am stoked none-the-less. The build will be slow, because my "hobby" of flipping cars will be the sole source of funds for the car. Each car sold will get reinvested in the next, with a budget in mind, and the surplus will go into the datsun. Well here it is as purchased (after rearranging the leafs back to stock configuration, it was an awful ride before: How shes sitting now. Not much changed at all yet. Runs great, although burns some oil. Fine on the freeway, getting great mileage. It came with the center caps as well. The interior is complete but torn up. If you look very closely you see this was the trimmed down honey bee. Complete with missing tach, arm rests, carpet rear ash trays ect. It does have rear window defroster and aftermarket air conditioning (seized motor). The story is this was pulled behind an old couples RV (see tow bar mounts) and doesn't have a ton of miles on the motor. Although suspension and anything rubber is SHOT. My plan is to eventually swap out the pushrod a14 for something a little bigger. L20b or maybe a KA. I like the idea of running liter bike carbs on the new motor as well, been doing a lot of reading on the subject. Oh and for the first time in my life I own some rice, complete with a rice cooker... The pre-muffler is still in place so it doesn't sound awful, just looks it. It will probably go after I do something with the motor. I also happened to already own these.... I own a ton of manuals for cars I don't own, got them free years ago. I also just picked this up: I also still have my truck 1970 Chevy C10 292 as well as my wifes CRV And the beemer, the current flip. This was a $1000 car. I can post a more recent photo soon. I have been doing mostly paintwork. I have painted before (see black 74 super above) but still learning. This car is completely rust free, which is amazing for its vintage. 1983 320i Well that's where I am at and do not have much planned other than unloading the beemer and picking up another flip. I am considering buying a super beater to drive to death to keep miles off the datsun while I build funds with the flips...
  2. I may be interested. I may have a lead on one that I could have stateside at the end of the year for a bit cheaper. What time frame are you thinking before you take payment and ship. I would hate to miss my chance if my lead were to fall through afterward.
  3. With patience and ok quality paint and good prep work you can do an acceptable job with a rattle can. Duplicolor has been choice for me for motorcycle tanks and bicycle frames. The bmw is the first car I have sprayed large panels with a rattle can. I have over estimated the spread, especially painting horizontal surfaces (roof and trunk) and am not extremely happy with it, but it will suit my needs. Take your time, especially with prep, and it should turn out ok. The cost for cans adds up quickly though, especially duplicolor at 8$ a can. (cheaper by the case on amazon and you will need a couple cases...)
  4. Its going to take a lot of prep and primer to cover up a multi color job. White is one of the easiest colors to spray bomb. For what its worth I agree a cheap paint gun even if you are spraying a cheap paint is better. I did a beetle in rustoleum black about ten years ago with a harbor freight hvlp gun. Including the gun it cost less than the roof and trunk on the bmw I am in the process of rattle canning with duplicolor... 9 cans of paint and 8 cans of clear later...
  5. On my 28th birthday. Less than a month ago. Bought and sold a handful of cars, but am keeping the datsun. I promise I will post an introduction thread once I have some pictures.
  6. Anyone looking for B210 parts in the denver area (like myself) the North Denver U Pull and Pay has a 72 210 in their inventory. However the car actually in the yard is a 240Z. No B210 :blush:. I don't have very good pictures (it was cold and blowing snow) and have not uploaded them. Gauges were still there. Not much else good in the interior, or was missing Body was rough, but not insanely rusty. Driver front fender was pushed in. Lights and bezels were still there. Motor and tranny were gone Most suspension still in place. Yes I will create a introductory thread, I need pictures of the car first!
