  1. And I thought I had a lot of work to do on my Fairlane, not as much as you though! Watch Ebay for that trim piece you need, I saw them once in a while when I was looking for parts for mine. Mine has the original 289, factory air, power steering, and power brakes right now. When I catch up with other projects, I have a 5.0 and AOD sitting in the shop for mine, also I have a 351 to build a stroker in the future. Good luck with the build, I love 64s! cool.gif

  2. Here are some update photos of what I've been doing in the last week, mostly working on the bedrails. For you guys that are against dehooking, I am putting aircraft tie downs that are removable inside the bed. That is the way I did my 76 and they work much better than the hooks as there are a lot more location options, and when not using them, there is only a small button in the locations. cool.gif

  3. I agree completely. I hate the stickers, but they distract from the ugly tail lights. I'll remove them when I replace the tail lights.

Bob, was that show in Castle Rock? I was supposed to go meet a friend that lives there for that show, and spaced it out. He has a scary fast Z06, and like me he love all cool cars, no matter who built them. I'm still looking forward to meeting you in person, and seeing all your awsome toys.

    Later, Jim cool.gif

    Thanks for all the votes!

I'm going white for now. I agree that the black wheels would work with best with black letters and I love the way black wheels look on this truck. I'm about to order a set of custom Panasport wheels in silver. I want a more "vintage" looking wheel set. When I get the new wheels installed I'll see what I think of silver wheels and the white letters.

I ordered those brake/turn signal lights on ebay. They came from a company in Australia and cost around $60.00 if I remember correctly. I don't think I like them anymore. I want a more "vintage" looking tail light.

    We'll see . . . B)

Bob HELLO? Silver wheels = silver letters, just my opinion. cool.gif

  5. When I lived in Albuquerque, my next door neighbor had a 72 with a slide in. He got tired of his buddies running off and leaving him when they hit a hill on fishing trips. Then he got one of those sbc install kits that were available back in the day and dropped in a 283 Chevy with a turbo 350 auto, and his fishing buddies couldn't keep up with him on the hills. Amazing what doubling the power does! thumbup.gif

I can't wait to see how the bedside turns out

You just need the calipers and rotors from a 1990ish (I think) Izusu Trooper. The big squarish looking ones. :)

Thanks Steve, Jason emailed the instructions to me last night, so I'm all set. I haven't seen anything posted about your KC in a long time, what's going on with it? confused1.gif

  7. It's been my lucky week, I guess, my Addco sway bars came on Friday, I got them installed, and I can't wait for the first drive, the front is the same size as the one I bought for my 57 Chevy 1 inch! That should give me some really flat cornering. Also my brackets for the rear disc conversion came from Bee, but he didn't include the list of components I need to go with them, so I can't buy anything to complete my parts collection before I start taking the old drums off. If all goes right this should be a fun truck to drive, and I might even go to one of Bob's autocross events and give it a shot. I haven't autocrossed since the 70s, I'll have to learn all over again. cool.gif

  9. I just read from start to finish, reminded me of a similar situation at my work a few years ago. One of my coworkers loved orange soda, so kept a 2L bottle in the lunch room fridge. He started coming in to find his almost full soda bottle almost empty the next day. Another coworker told him to put a few drops of Visine in the soda and that would cure the thief. It worked, evidently it gives you the worst case of diarea you ever heard of, lasts for 2 or 3 days. blink.gif

  10. Steve, That is one sweet job, now I have a pattern to go by when I get ready to do mine. When you get a chance I'd like to see more photos of the steering mods, that last one was a little blurry. Keep up the great work, I've missed your updates on the other truck, I've learned a lot from you. cool.gif

  11. Here is what I have been up to lately, still slow going as my back still get's tired fast. I have dehooked the bed, gotten all the major dents out of the wheels in the bed, and tacked the first filler panel in place to make the bed contour match the cab. I'm also cleaning the underside of the wheel wells of the undercoating and rust, so that I can repaint them and coat with spray on bed liner. cool.gif

  12. OK Bob, Don't make us wait too long, how did things go today? I'm pooped after all the walking and drooling today, Took lot's of photos, one car was right up your alley, a BMW Isetta, with a Suzuki 1100cc motorcycle engine for power. I have no idea where the guy got the trick wheels and tires in that size to fit it, but it has got to be a blast to drive with about 4 times the stock power! thumbup.gif

  13. Bob, you have something to be proud of, it is by far the nicest 521 I have ever seen. I want to talk to you in person before you start on the 620, I have some info you might be interested in before you make any final decisions on drivetrain.

  14. Bob, It's beautiful, except those headers need to go to Jet Hot! If you don't have enough time to make it to make it to Canby, you could always go to Good Guys in Loveland. They have an autocross on Fri. and Sat. Then there is Pueblo the end of the month, two great shows. Wish you would answer my question tho.
