  1. Hi, gang, I'm dredging this old thread up to attempt to keep good weatherstrip information in one place. My new question is: has anyone had any luck with aftermarket solutions for the TRUNK weatherstrip / seal? Mine is so far gone I couldn't even guess what the stock profile might have been. Thanks, Jesse.
  2. Yeah, I thought about a rebuild, but this thing is wrecked. Inside it was a solid block of rust. I got it apart and found that pretty much everything inside is ruined. I'm going to take some measurements down to the salvage yard this week and see if there are any easy fits (I really think there will be). For the SR20 swap, are you cutting into the firewall there or just coming up against it real close? Jesse.
  3. My wiper motor is very dead. Looking at other Datsuns from the era, the motors and gear housings look interchangeable, with the differences appearing in the mounting plate/bracket and what mounts to the shaft. Has anyone swapped in a motor from a different Datsun, or have one easily at hand to compare against the 411. Best, Jesse.
  4. Hi, My switches are held by a poorly-bent piece of aluminum courtesy of the P/O. Does anyone have an extra one of these consoles -- in good shape -- to sell? Thanks, Jesse.

    411's UNITE

@erichwaslike - Man, those are my favorite rims on a 411. A guy up in the Bay Area has a set on his red 411, too. Someday, when I'm done rolling on your old stock rims.... Jesse.
  6. Hey, I did the color one. I forget where it is on this site, but you can find it here: 410 Wiring Diagram Good luck! Jesse.
  7. @Ron1200 - It's true, the traffic's so bad most days it takes a good 5 minutes just to get to the back of my yard! @All - Thanks for the support. I was a little dismayed to be getting a hard time about not having the time or inclination to ship free parts. At least I learned that shipping used gas tanks apparently is legal. That will likely come in handy as I convert more cars to electric & have additional gas tanks piling up. Best, Jesse.
  8. Hello, all, The in-dash regulator on my Bluebird is shot, so I am going to solder up a solid-state replacement. But, I cannot find confirmation of what voltage it is supposed to produce. I'm guessing 6V, as 6V directly to the gauges gets me just shy of the max, while 7.5V goes way over. But, if anyone has the technical data at hand, I would appreciate it. Best, Jesse.
  9. I'm sorry, but packing and shipping a used gas tank will take more than 10 minutes. Never mind that it is technically illegal. Moreover, I think I'm allowed to be unenthusiastic about shipping something that I am giving away FOR FREE. That said, if there someone who wants to come get any of these parts and ship them wherever, I'm happy to help with that. Best, Jesse.
  10. Unfortunately, the only parts I have are the ones shown. Good luck!! Jesse.
  11. Sorry, shipping is too much hassle. Thanks anyway.

  16. Hey, man, You totally have first dibs: I'm still rolling on those crazy, cracked tires that were on the rims I bought from you. We'll see how long they last! Although my car came with a good running A14 engine and BW tranny kinda just sitting in the engine bay, I sold those a couple years ago. The things I still have that I don't need are: -Complete rear end from drum to drum, -Leaf springs, with viable bushings, -Driveshaft, -Very clean gas tank, -Gas pedal linkage, -Starter, -Alternator. If you or anyone else wants/needs these items, send me a PM I will be happy to send photos/work out a fair price/arrange delivery. Best, Jesse.
  17. Hi, gang, I thought some of you might be interested in seeing my '67 Bluebird rolling along ev-style. It is quiet and smooth, but not super fast. Because my hobby budget is very tight and what I really wanted to do is prototype a drivetrain packaging idea, power comes from a golf cart motor and controller with a mere 48V. The surprising thing is that this is enough to give me at least 10 miles of range with a top speed of 35 mph. As of this writing, I've only gotten up to 20 mph because Curtis, the controller manufacturer, sells its controllers with speed-limiting codes that I have yet to up-grade. In time, I will remove the golf cart bits and replace them with a relatively low-voltage AC system that will provide, with a largish Li-ion battery pack, highway speeds and 100+ mile range. For now, I'm just scrounging the money together to get it street legal and properly registered so that I can drive it on errands and whatnot. It definitely retains all the delight of driving a 411, just without any of the noise, odors or fumes. Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K6-tbKX9bw Jesse.
  18. Mike, Thanks for the feedback. In regards to the too-wide bead on JC Whitney's 1JA 132562 weatherstrip, I was thinking the bead metal might be flimsy enough that I could run it through a homemade "bead roller" to narrow it down so that the Datsun's aluminum trim would not have to be modified. Too bad about the longevity, although I suppose I am not surprised. Still, I would be happy to have even three years of functioning weatherstrip, given the state of the 40+ year old stock material I have on there, now. Thanks also for the additional input on the hood seal. Best, Jesse.
  19. Hi, 411 folks, Has anyone tried any of the "universal fit" weatherstrip solutions on the doors (or elsewhere) of their 411? I'm considering these three, the first two from JC Whitney and the third from SoftSeal: The dimensions/profiles on all three are pretty close, although the JC Whitney clamping bead is a little wide. Any thoughts? Jesse. [Edited 8/10/15 to fix image links]
  20. Sorry, yes, I took that as a given since this is 410/411 area: The car is a 1967 411 SSS. Jesse.
  21. Hello, Spent some time today working on my windshield wipers, both of which were frozen in place. Hard time removing the big nuts, as seems to be the case with every old Datsun. I was baffled to discover that removing the nuts did nothing to free the housings from the cowl, though. So, instead, I removed the little clip that holds each shaft up in the housing, lowered the the shafts and cleaned both up. The wipers move smoothly, now. And I'm going to look around for new shaft o-rings as both were hard and flat. If anyone happens to know the specs on those, that would be great. But, my real question is: how do you actually remove the wiper housings? I would really like to get them off and put new gaskets under them as well. For some reason, I cannot find the wipers in the parts manual, so I cannot even tell exactly how many components there are, let alone how they are assembled. Thanks in advance for any guidance anyone can offer. Best, Jesse.
  22. Sorry, Mike, I was making plans with Erich off-line and not checking back with the board. I clearly need to set up auto-alert for my threads. Thank you very much for your offer and thanks also to Erich, from whom I picked up a pair of wheels/tires on Monday. Best to everyone in the New Year! Jesse.
  23. Hey, folks, I'll soon have my '67 411 SSS on all four wheels again (right now it's on 2 wheels and 2 jackstands). But, some clown stole the two rear wheels from my parents' garage, where I was storing them. Is there anyone in the Los Angeles area with an extra pair of stock steelies they want to sell or give? I apologize for putting a WTB in the general 411 area, but early Bluebirds get no play in "For Sale/Wanted". Thanks! Jesse.
  24. I got mine. Just disc brake parts, as none of my drivetrain is stock. The prices are great, but after shipping (ground), the total was just "okay". Thanks for the tip!! Jesse.
