  1. After a new tire, some grinding, welding, and spacers, im back on the road! see you all at 11
  2. haha alright well thats good to know! i guess you could say i was curious cause i have rotas for my current project Z, but like you, want something different in the long run. I cant wait to see how your car looks on some nice coils! (rotas or not ;) )
  3. Love the car! i wish i would have done mine this way... Not to thread jack but why does everyone hate on rotas? Some car communitys could care less, and some are like ew rotas.... Just curious..
  4. I may or may not be there :( i had a tire blow out on the freeway today, messed up part of my air ride, hopefully ill get it fixed!
  5. Hey guys, im in stanwood wa, looking for two strut tubes/spindles, thatll fit a 71 510 Also looking for 2 generic (firestone etc) airbags let me know Casey 360 631 3898
  6. Does anyone have 2 generic bags for a reasonable price??? the time to do a new front end has come sooner then i had hoped Edit: also need two strut tubes/spindles 2nd Edit: i have two good cylinders and two blown cylinders you could have... if you can help me out with a decent price!
  7. Still have the front struts/spindles? I live in northern washington, if your williing, id meet you up there somewhere convienent. Pmd also
  8. Front flared fiberglass fenders, i love the look the of a slammed z with bolt on flares, but thats not the look im trying to acheive here, thus the reason we made one offs for the rear and i found these sweet 15 year old, never mounted, fenders.
  9. So i havent posted anything in quite sometime, mostly cause not much progress has been made! and ive done a little work on the 510 in the last week or so. But hopefully with the start of next week ill get a few things buttoned up and start on my roll cage! im not too excited for it, i know its going to be hard, but luckily my dads great with this kinda stuff, so ill keep this updated as we get going on it.
  10. toyo or falken? both make a 195/45
  11. Itll be a bit before i get new tires, tire size in 14 is pretty limited so ill probally end up with a 55 sidewall. it kills me to buy new tires when these are basically new! haha oh well
  12. well.. if the extracters broke you probally cant drill into it anymore... so, id say find a freind with a welder, and weld a nut to whats sticking up. just turn the welder up and make sure its nice and hot and sticks good. Thats how ive always had luck with broken bolts... Sorry not much of a help since you dont have a welder. but figured id throw out my 2 cents anyway
  13. And thats a pretty good link as well
  14. Now theres an interesting idea... thats what im talking about! im trying to think of a way to keep the air in the bag and not allow it into the strut. meybe an oring? hmmm
  15. I count roughly 14! should be a decent turnout. anyone else?!
  16. Ill have to measure it when i have the wheel off tomorrow. Currently thats aired out, however thats not as low as im going to be! i need a different air setup in the front before i can go lower. i could go lower now, but then my tire rubs the canister. or get different tires, or run spacers and do a slight pull, but everyone says the canisters suck so ill put that money into new struts. My goal for now is to finish the trunk, it needs lots of cleanup. and i want 4 wheel control. then i want a new strut setup for the front, once i have that, ill get another inch out of the rear, another 2 out of the front, and be pretty dam low. then some smaller tires and bam should look good. Other things on my to do list: figure out how i can run a front sway bar, build a center console and mount all my switches and gauges in it. tuck my exhaust for when i go lower (its on the ground now when im aired out)
  17. Heres a couple pics of where i sit right now.
  18. Oh and im glad people started to see this thread! theres a lot of good info in here. Thanks!
  19. I like those... and you say i could pick up a set for around 300? not to spendy either... hmmm and you agree there strong enough? i dont have a problem with welding.. or making em work, and they look smaller then the canisters i have now so they should clear my tires.. anyone else see any potential problems with them? edit: how much adjustiablity is there in them? from 0psi to filled up? For those who were questioning tristans design, the idea is the sleeve that holds the bag gives the ridgity and doesnt allow the bag to move all over the place, so no its not quite the same as the canisters i have now.
  20. Thats basically the same idea i had drawn out, but the only problem i have with it in my head is (not sure if this is true for all bags) when they inflate they get narrower and deflate they get fatter. But yeah same idea i was thinking of... you could run a bearing at the top so the strut would turn with the steering as a normal strut? but i dunno if you want the bag spinning inside a pipe.. Indy, how did you get that low and not have your sway bar and control arm bind up against the frame?????? i had to take mine out, and id love to know how i can make it work with it in!!!!! I get what your saying about driving that low, but thats the beauty of bags, i wouldnt be dd it that low.
  21. Yup pretty much, ive gone back to the drawing board on the fronts. I think i have a design using a bag and the strut that wouldnt allow it to move all over. but im still thinking on it. If you guys cant tell, im a build it yourself kinda guy, i cant afford buying a 4000$ air setup, so i guess you could say im an innovater? i like trying to solve problems and build things. So if anyone has any design ideas using a run of the mill bag up front let me know, im open to all cheap, labor intensive ideas Im also working on 4 more valves for 4 wheel control, the bag transfer thing is so annoying, as soon as i get into the car or park on a slant the car tilts side to side. and 4 wheel control should help the car handle much better.
  22. Personally i dont see what good it would do, im not sure you would find a spring to compress that much at 0 psi and still do anything when your aired up. On top of that where would you put the bag? I dunno i guess it could help though? hopefully someone who acutally knows something will chime in!
  23. I just talked to him, and your right, hes running a suspension bolt in kit from air lift or someother company like that. Its an audi a4
