  1. This... its perfect... any chance you'll give me the dimensions on those motor mounts as well as the dimensions of what you did to the front end? I've got a 4X4 620 that needs saving fast...
  2. sorry, these are a little late! heres the engine, dirty, but untampered with and the bottom end is in good condition. probably just going to get a re-hone and re-ring balancer was an unholy mother to get off all dis-assembled and ready for cleaning, paint, and rebuilding! oh, and cant forget the car! more photos soon...
  3. Pics will be here as soon as I get the bottom end in my possession from a friend. If I could get an RB26DET, I'd grab one, but getting one imported comes with quite the shipping quote, the reason I'm turning my attention to my car is I'm looking for something more bolt-in than a V8 swapped 620 to boost my morale from my 4×4 build (which I'm extremely burnt out on). I have a series-1 Z thats on hold to get an RB26DETT, but as with all of my builds I want to do it right with no corners cut, so that requires some real $$$. Not in any extreme rush at the moment, so just kinda waiting on the right set of triple weber to come along, and if push comes to shove, I know where I can pick up a decent set of delorto carbs, but I'd rather not pick apart my mates car
  4. Well, looks like I might be going triple-forties on the intake. As far as the head goes, it'd cost be $35 to go solid lifter, so that's still up in the air
  5. Well, im putting my 620 on hold to give my Z some attention. Ripping out the N47 crap and going to a custom L28 Heres the plan F54 block P90a head shaved .080 with '78 valves, .080 shimmed cam towers and .080 shimmed springs. 274/274 .480/.480 hydraulic schnieder camshaft Dual SU carbs I'm currently on the hunt for an intake before I can start anything, anyone have any leads on an early 240z intake? Be much appreciatedif someone could give me a lead. Pics coming friday...
  6. Ladies and gentlemen, an overdue update from yours truly! It's been too long! But I've been working quite a lot and waiting on parts... the good news is that the motor is finally ready to drop in!!!
  7. There is, lots of aftermarket support for the H233b as well. Also, you'd be able to keep those bitchin' wheels!
  8. What about an H233b? Basically a Nissan made Ford 9"
  9. no turning back now! stuff cut like butter! looks so very wrong, but its for the better. heres whats left assemble the top end of the motor make motor mounts and a transmission crossmember using this method: http://www.how-to-build-hotrods.com/custom-motor-mounts.html drop motor in to test fit modify tail of oldsmobile transmission to accept the t-case to the driveshaft have t-case driveline modified to fit length assemble auto-trans shifter auto trans cooler install drop in the engine and trans wiring :crying: new fuel lines annnnd some other things i'm sure i'm forgetting until next time!
  10. You asked for it! heres an update so my heads are currently still at the machine shop  but i did get the 4-banger pulled. here's some pics to tide you girls over till engine is hanging in the bay. so i lost some fluid and ended up separating the engine and tranny after my friends and i had the chain slip and almost kill us... its a heavy bastard compared to the V8  engine bays are so weird without motors... so... removng the dash was an unholy b!tch. ended up stripping the screws on the top and removing the windshield, which I DID NOT want to do! tonight ill be cutting the firewall, just had to decide on a tool. 4&1/2" cutting wheel should do the trick. until next time ladies. going through some personal stuff, so ill be spending more time with this lady.
  11. ladies and gentleman, the swap is accelerating at full speed now! we got some snow here in the high desert, so some fiends and i went up in the woods to play with their trucks, heres my best friends twin turbo... this little outing and talking to a buddy of mine got me thinking, i have an indoor shop in my basement, theres just tons of shite in the way (houses previous owner left some stuff behind). so, the next day, i woke up at 6, and spent till 4:00 cleaning. all i got clear was the inside when a buddy called me, desperate for my SU carb setup, so i sacked it up and crawled my pickup over the remaining mess! had to clear some snow to get the bastard started because my friend who was supposed to come over and pull the truck into the shop with his chevy never showed up. got it running pretty easy, deafening motor knock and all. road down to the shop. FIT FOR A 4X4! target in sight This was not as fun as it looks, had about 6" to squeeze in on either side, having to crawl my way in BACKWARDS made it stressful! oh god... its in... its a cozy fit, but it works (pardon the tools and turned over tool box, zman73 finally showed up and decided to dump all of my tools and his all over the floor...) finally in the disassembly stage, just waiting on a cherry picker to pull the ol motor and trans in one fell swoop.
  12. felt the need for some motivation today, so i mocked things up and took some measurments! should have more real updates in a week or so. stay tuned!
  13. Any chance you could share some info/pictures with me? Doing this swap and the information from you could SERIOUSLY simplify things and speed things along.
  14. Yea the cam I have sketched me out when I think about just trying to resurface the dinged up heads.
