Pigwarrior
Hi brains trust, looking to get some help pulling the z22 out of my 1984 nissan 720 4x4, I cannot figure out how to attach photos otherwise I would, I have blocked up the cabin on the chasis mounts so I can lift the engine higher up without hitting the body so that I can clear the oil pan from the front diff/axle. It seems to be moving around but I cannot pull it forwards out of the transmission, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on getting it out, do I need to remove the driveshafts or something? Not sure how to proceed. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
IZRL
Not sure if this will help but here's an install of a z24. Might give you some ideas? 1 Quote Link to comment

Pigwarrior
Okay so when I was jacking it more the tranny slipped out of the driveshaft (fluid is everywhere now), I couldnt really go back to tranny went up with the engine (No bellhousing bolts so man that was a bad idea) couldn't clear the front so I mutliated the front with a grinder pulled it forward and both are out now. So Ig if your too lazy to remove the front diff the process would be, drain and disconect tranny and engine from stuff, cut out the front (unless u have a big enough crane), block the cabin up off the chasis and pull the engine and tranny out together. powderfinger
I think maybe you need a load leveler for your hoist. You should be able to get it out without cutting anything. 1 Quote Link to comment
Pigwarrior
Probably, I ended up rushing it, probably could have taken the weels off and dropped the front down and set the crane arm higher in heinsight Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
You need to avoid tilting the motor like in your pic. If the input shaft of the trans is still in the clutch disc when the motor and trans are misaligned like that, you can bend the clutch disc. 1 Quote Link to comment
