Distributer tang question.

Fairly certain engine is at TDC. Is the tang in the correct position? It looks a little bit off, I've read that the left edge of the tang aligns with the outside top hole.

 

I've taken that rod and engaged it another tooth (clockwise direction on picture, CCW from oil pump side). In that position it points closer to 12 o'clock.

 

Dimple on gear and housing were aligned, but i cant remember if that threw the tang to 12 o'clock or like the picture.

I'd say you're good. There are 20 teeth so each tooth moves the spindle 180.  I did a little measuring of the picture above and some math. Eighteen degrees is scary close to the width of that tang.

 

I think more than close enough to adjust the distributor timing.
