VG30E Transmission help

Good evening

 

I have recently acquired a VG30E from a Maxima. It was $100 bucks and didnt come with a transmission, but I know it was an automatic judging by the wiring harness and the gear plate on the crank. No flywheel

 

Main question is; What manual transmissions will bolt up to this engine? I have a FS5W71B that works well, but I havent had time to pull it apart and see if it fits.

Any notes on this?

There was never an FS5W71B that was fitted to a VG engine. You want an FS5W71C from a...

 

300zx (non turbo) '84-'86 I think

'86-'97? D21 Hardbody 2wd

'87-'88 S12 200sx

'87-'89  2wd WD21 Pathfinder.....

 

These all had VG30 engines with 5 speed manuals.

Would the 71C also be found in the KA24 variant of thr hardbody and pathy? Much easier to find. Wouldn't make sense in my eyes for Nissan to have a v6 only transmission.

The FS5W71C did see use on the KA, CA and the VG series engines (by coincidence it also bolts to the Z series engines) but the front case or bell housing designed to bolt to a KA is NOT going to fit to a VG.

 

If you find an FS5W71C from a KA engine D21 Hardbody you would still have to source a VG front case to convert it for use on a VG. Might as well just pull one from  VG powered D21. Or from another on my list.
