RafaelSagrero
Good evening i have a 1986 Nissan 720 with a 1984 z24 engine with a hitachi carburetor, my mechanic says that my carburetor is broken and not worth repairing. I have to buy a new one but I see that the new ones have a connection with two cables, one blue and one red. My broken carb doesn't have those wires because they were removed since it doesn't have a computer. Is it really necessary to connect that harness? where I live we have average temperatures of 60 to 100°F all year so the choke is not very necessary. Is there anything I can do with that harness? or should i get an ECU😓? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
An ECU won't help as that is for a totally different set up. The two wires are: Red... idle cut solenoid. This aids shutting the engine off when hot. Prevents 'run on' or dieseling. It won't idle if not powered Blue... choke heater. Helps with cold starting and warm up. If you get a new carburetor just connect the Red and Blue together and connect to a power supply that is turned on with the ignition. The two wires for them should be on a harness plug near the rear of the carburetor. 1 Quote Link to comment
