None_zero
But... when setting the first cylinder to top dead center. Are there points where the piston will be in the uppermost position that are not the "compression stroke"? Quote Link to comment
None_zero
I ask because I was resetting my valve lashings and the video I was watching said that none of the valves would be open, on either intake or exhaust sides while in this position and I didn't find that to be the case Quote Link to comment
Justin
Yes, TDC on the "compression stroke" ONLY occurs when all the valves are closed. If the valves are open you're on either TDC on the intake or exhaust stroke. And you double-posted this question. Quote Link to comment
None_zero
Sorry for double post I hit back too often and on web pages it should be home I press Quote Link to comment
None_zero
And thanks for the answer that makes sense. My first newbie assumption was that whenever the piston is rising it is compressing but after a little thought I figured that was probably wrong and thought I better ask and be sure Quote Link to comment
