wivrrat
I recently sold my flip pac camper and want to replace it with a regular slide in truck camper. Hopefully a Palomino style with a pop up roof. What is the weight limit without changing out the stock suspension. Quote Link to comment
wivrrat
The flip pac only weighed 500 pounds. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Go to a gravel pit or land fill and get the vehicle weight. Subtract this from the GVW (gross vehicle weight, which is the vehicle weight plus legal load) This number is how much you can carry extra. Generally the King Cab can carry 500Kg or 1,104 pounds payload but if you have added a winch or other goodies it may be less. 500 pounds is no biggie for the 720 leaf springs. In fact the ride will actually be more comfortable because the springs flex more on bumps. Yopu could ad helper coil springs to your rear shocks or a helper leaf spring but this will be too stiff when the camper is off. Highly recommend new high performance shock absorbers all round and keep a close eye on brake linings and pads. Quote Link to comment
wivrrat
Thanks. Yea, I had the flip pac on for a dozen years and it never knew it was there. Thanks for the info. Quote Link to comment
