Steven Norsworthy Sr. Posted July 5, 2022 Report Share Posted July 5, 2022 When I purchased my 521, it had a swapped out L18, that apparently was in the 620 for only one year I do believe. Have been able to work through most of the many challenges of getting it running but one. The L18 is missing the timing indicator. Was hoping someone on this group had an extra I could purchase or direct to a supplier. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted July 6, 2022 Report Share Posted July 6, 2022 L18s in the '73 610, '74 710 and 620 all had the timing indicator shown as a saw tooth on the distributor side of the timing cover. Both L16s in the 521 and 510 are shown as a single pointer on the alternator side. Both L16 and L18s show as the same part number (wtf?) so I don't know. Set to TDC and look for the notch on the back pulley lip. What side is it on? If only one notch then it uses the saw tooth. If 4 or 5 notches it uses the single pointer.
