85 nissan 720 4x4 old OEM fuel pump

Hi Ya'll.I was going thru some of my old parts that came off my 720.I have a oem fuel pump that quit on me long ago.I put a new fuel  relay in it when the original fuel pump went out and that didn't fix it,also new big fuel filter and fuel filter in fuel pump,so it didn't fix it.So I bought a new one from Nissan dealer,and it fixed it.First I took hose off of Weber put in mason jar and turned over,no gas.So new pump fixed it.11 years later,pump went out,did both filters and it didn't work,so I bought another Nissan Fuel pump and it worked.I thru away the original pump but still have the one that lasted 11 years,even put it back on after new pump worked and it wouldn't work with new filter inside.I do have a brand new Nissan spare fuel pump and little and big filter as spares.I know you can't buy any replacement parts for the fuel pump.I was wondering why it won't work.I even tried new gaskets.The wiring and connector are good.
