slim_jimmy7
I have an annoying transmission fluid leak from the trans where the speedometer cable comes out. I have done searching for the o ring that goes in there (which I am thinking is the culprit) and can't find anything. Is it the same as the 240s? Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes all 3N71A, 3N71B, F4W71A, F4W71B, FS5W71B in all 240/260/280z used them. Both of the following are very commonly used on Datsun and Nissan transmissions manuals and automatics.. There is an oil seal 32709-14600 (bottom left) and it is in EVERY speedometer pinion manual or automatic until the early 2000s. The 510 O ring 32710-14600 (bottom right) is on every pinion manual or automatic all the way up to the '96 300zx The O ring is easy, take it to NAPA or any auto parts or hydraulic parts dealer and they will find you one. The oil seal, just pull any speedometer pinion apart and pull one of of it. 1 Quote Link to comment
slim_jimmy7
Thank you kindly! Not like it's a huge expenditure, but didn't want to buy 12 o rings before I got the right one. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Make sure you don't twist the pinion when removing. This could crush the plastic gear. I remove the keeper then tug on the speedometer sheath to pull it straight out. Raise the rear of the car so oil does not pour out. Quote Link to comment
