Milldozer
I've recently purchased an '83 200sx, and its spent more time with a mechanic than in my own driveway. It will start up without any issue and idles fine, however the engine has issues with running low RPMs (sub 2000) and continues to fall over itself if you don't feather the gas. I threw in new plugs and wires without any resolve, tried a new Ignition Control Module without any success, and tested the wires to see if there were any connection issues. It was discovered that exhaust side plugs were not firing making me think there maybe an issue with the ignition coil, but replacing it didn't produce any results. I went ahead and checked the fuel lines and filters finding some mud and has since been cleaned. Again, no difference in driveability. There isn't much else I could think of that would contribute to no spark on the exhaust side or why the engine is suffering. Hopefully this corner of the internet has answers because I'm out of solutions. Plz halp. 'Dozer out Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You must mean shudders... as in shaking? I hope you held on to the old parts as they are better quality that the ones you replaced them with. Always find out what is wrong before replacing things. New parts can also be failed parts that can confound the diagnosis. A new part is always ignored as being the cause of a problem. Loss of the exhaust side plugs is because they are powered through a fuse unlike the intake side that come directly from the ignition switch. Just realized that you have an S110 so I don't know which fuse so check them all. Quote Link to comment
Milldozer
Yes it definitely shakes right before it cuts out. As far as the old parts I still have the original Ignition control Module installed, as well as the old coil. All the replacements were returned. Fuses will be the next step. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I have an '81 (diagram) that has the 8 spark plug distributor. Like the 720, it seems to show the fuse on the extreme far left (15 amp) of the fuse box and the source for the exhaust coil. 1 Quote Link to comment
