datzenmike
If you can get a factory Nissan kit it's way cheaper. I did this about 20 years ago and it was $15 CDN and was easy and worked till I gave the truck away, no wait it was on the transmission I kept so I still have it somewhere. 1 Quote Link to comment
84seven20
Hey y'all, Finally got around to putting on the new OEM master and slave cylinders in, lubed em up with brake fluid before hand to avoid tearing the seals. My partner and I bled and bled and bled until the pedal was pretty dang stiff, no air bubbles, but I still can't shift gears with the engine running, but shifting gears with the engine off goes just fine. From what i've read, this means the problem could likely be with the pressure plate or clutch disk and i will have to drop the transmission to access these. Never done this before, ant tips are appreciated! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Look at the slave push rod for movement. If the master/slave is working properly it will be moving just over an inch. If it is moving 1.1" and you still can't get into gear the clutch disc is likely attached itself to the pressure plate or the flywheel. I had this happen on an MG once. Take out of gear and put the front bumper against a tree or wall that won't move. Put in 4th gear, hold the clutch pedal down and bump the starter. I this doesn't release the disc, the transmission must come out to get at the pressure plate. 1 Quote Link to comment
74Nissan4x4
have valid part number for master/slave/slave hose ? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Forgot there is another thing to bleed. There is a clutch damper mounted on the firewall behind the intake. The damper should be bled after the slave. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I do not 'get' why the damper is there or what it's supposed to damp. People that have deleted them report no change Quote Link to comment
74Nissan4x4
The system itself is designed to displace the "shock" to the internal components of the vehicle during shifting...basically a don't dump the clutch so hard hall pass Quote Link to comment
