datzenmike
Too retarded is more likely to over heat, but..... Set the timing to the correct amount. 50 BTDC Overheating is usually one of two things, lack of air flow or lack of coolant flow. Lack of air 1/ shroud around fan is missing. 2/ clutch fan oil has leaked out and fan not turning fast enough 3/ rad fins plugged with dirt, bugs and debris 4/ plastic fan blades damaged 5/ bush bar and fog lights blocking air Lack of coolant 1/ fan belt glazed and slipping 2/ soft lower rad hose collapses when revved up 3/ rad core tubes plugged with hard water scale or rust 4/ thermostat stuck part closed. 5/ heater hoses joined together to bypass leaking heater core Runner ups... Gauge or sender is giving bad reading. Get an IR gun and 'shoot' the thermostat for an accurate reading. If in the 185-190F range you're good. Head gasket is blown. More likely if this was a Z24 but could happen if Z22 was over heated. Quote Link to comment
