Two way to go here.

1/ an FS5W63A (aka a dogleg) from a '77-'79 S10 200sx car. It's the same length as your L16 4 speed so the driveshaft will fit. You probably will need to modify the transmission mount on the cross member to fit it. Bolts right up to your engine but keep and use YOUR existing clutch release bearing sleeve. (but replace with a new bearing) The down side is they were only used on the 200sx so somewhat rare and any available will be very worn or rebuilt a couple of times and ave a lot of miles on it. Secondary to this, it's strong enough for an L16 but only adequate for an L20B if you plan an engine swap in the future.

FS5W63A dogleg. Smooth front case, 26" long, Has a distinguishing large nut on the bottom just in front of the rubber transmission mount. Speedometer drive pinion on on left rear case.

2/ an FS5W71B. Found as an option in '77 and up 80z/zx, 810Maxima and 620 trucks. This transmission is longer than your 4 speed so the driveshaft WILL need shortening however the 620 did use 4 and 5 speed 71Bs starting in '74 and the front driveshaft and the cross member might allow you to use them. It will bolt to your L16 and again use YOUR release bearing collar and NOT one if it comes with the transmission. The FS5W71B is a six cylinder transmission so extremely strong for a 4 cylinder.

FS5W71B ribbed front case and is 31.5" long. Speedometer drive pinion is on right rear of case

F4W71B 4 speed. Don't mistake the 4 speed for the 5. The 4 speed has a 6 bolt cover with breather cap just forward of the shifter.IWxoRPm.jpg
