Pilotsperspective
Hello All, I am new here so please excuse me if I have put this in the wrong place. I am trying to identify the motor and transmission that are in my car. I have an MG Midget that has a Nissan A14 motor in it as well as a 5 speed transmission that I am assuming came from the same donor car. The transmission has a three bolt front bearing retainer. The motor has the below stampings and castings. Stampings A14 510737 B Castings A14 D23X H72 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Randy Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
A three bolt front cover would be a 60 series 5 speed. If reverse is above first gear it's from a late '78 or '79 Datsun 210 and is an FS5W60L. If the normal H pattern shift it's an FS5W60A from an '80 an up 210. The A14 engine was used in the '75 to mid? '78 B-210 and also in the mid?'78 and into '82 210. Probably it was from the same car as the 5 speed. I'm no expert on the A series but most major parts are the same. Heads were different. The best way to narrow down the year more accurately is identifying what emissions equipment is on it... if it wasn't removed. 2 Quote Link to comment
Pilotsperspective
Thanks so much for the reply, I have been able to get the parts needed and the transmission should be back in shortly. Quote Link to comment
