Only automatics need a dash pot and yours is a standard. Maybe you're thinking of the idle up solenoid for air con???

Best carburetor is the one on it. If working ok leave it. Other ones don't fit and need an adapter plate. You can't use the stock air filter and you loose the ATC.

But if you just have to.... a 32/36 Weber is close.

Yes you are correct, it is a dash pot. It's controlled by engine vacuum. If the throttle is suddenly closed on an automatic equipped vehicle, the vacuum operates the dash pot and delays the closing of the throttle back to idle position. If the air conditioner is ON even more so because there is an additional load on the idling engine in drive.

Do you have air conditioning? Possibly a standard transmission might use this if there is an air conditioner on it , but all automatics will have it.

Yes I have air conditioner.   It does have a dash pot, would it be there if it was not being used?

Let me just throw out what I'm trying to troubleshoot.  I've had the truck a month.  On two separate trips the truck started dying every time I would come to a stop.  One time I believe the air was running and one time it was not.  At the time I had a spare motor in the bed.   Wasn't sure if that was too big a load.    I drive it everyday to work and back, 21 miles each way with no issues.  It just did that on two trips.  The two longest I have drove it...

See if it's the air con being on when this happens. The pump is an additional load on the engine at idle and may cause stalling. Next time it tries to stall, turn the air off and see if that fixes it.
