cbrna8
Anyone have any knowledge or dealt with the air pump passage on a h72 head? I would like to block it off some how but am at a loss for a good way to. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The pressure side hose from the air pump clamps to a fitting on the front of the head. Remove the fitting and take it to a hardware or plumbing store and get a matching thread pipe plug and screw in. I imagine it might be metric. Try a fastener outlet like Fastenal. If not mechanical, remove the hose and fill with JB weld. Quote Link to comment

Morrisun
As in the pictures above, you can tap the hole without drilling a 37/64 - recommended for 3/8 pipe tap- the hole is only slightly larger and the tap will work just fine. Use some grease- to lubricate and catch the fines from the tap making threads, the fines. This cylinder head had the small holes in the exhaust port welded up for some head work, so no way for debris to get into the head. You can also use a vacuum to help remove them. Just take your time and back-off the tap, clean the fines off and reapply grease as needed. Most of the corrosion took replace in the thermostat housing, EGR pipe was attached-may not be much in this hole, as no connection was made. You can choose a pipe plug that is either an "inny or an outty" I like an inny and a brass one as well. use a pipe thread sealant on the threads. You should be good to go! Quote Link to comment
cbrna8
I hadn't even thought about tapping it! That solves my problem! thank you guys! This is what I get for putting an a14 head on my a15. I already had to drill the cooling holes for the wet manifold. Quote Link to comment
