Hello all,

I am new to the forum and have what to most of you will probably be a stupid question...how can I determine if my choke is stuck open?  The truck is a 1984 720 2.4.   (286,000 miles)

                                                                            Thank you!

Check when cold, do not warm it up first, press the gas pedal once without starting, then remove air cleaner lid and look, choke should not be straight up/down, should be closed at that time

That won't tell if it's stuck open, just that it IS open.

If you want to check if it closes when cold, let it sit a couple hours, pop the air cleaner lid off.  Don't start the engine, just tap the pedal.  Choke should close.

edit- rickrat beat me to it.
