Vorsach
So I had bought a new water pump because mine went out, took it in and the pump and new belt were installed, about 5-6 moths later the pump went out again, so I got another one and had it installed about 2-3 moths ago, and it's starting to squeal again... So my question is, does anyone know why or have any idea at all why she's eating waterpumps?... Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Most likely causes: * belt tightened too much * cheap quality part The belt should be loose enough that, using thumb and one finger, you can twist the belt 90 degrees. Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
Ok, I'll double check the belt, but the pump I got from a nismo shop, are there better pumps?... Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
The belt feels and looks fine... Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Don't check it for feel, check it for tightness. The belt should be loose enough that, using thumb and one finger, you can twist the belt 90 degrees. Any tighter than that will needlessly stress the water pump. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Does the pulley line up with the other pulleys? Didn't we only get FWD SRs? Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
All the pulleys seem to line up... My alternator is going out, would that help kill the water pump?... Also all the pulleys are five grooves except the alternator, it has four grooves, so the belt is only four grooved width, but that would still put about the same tension right?...
