L series engine mounts/tranny mounts

Hey guys, i was wondering if all L series engines (4 and 6 cylinder) have the same mounting locations. Also does a regular 4-cylinder Lseries tranny mount straight on to a 6-cylinder L block? Do i have to shorten the driveshaft? I might want to swap a L26 into a 610 wagon, that originally has an L18.

I'm sure i'm not the first to ask this but i couldn't find both answers.

Thanks in advance!

All 4s do and all 6s do but they aren't the same for both. In other words a 4 cylinder would sit too far forward in a Z car.

All L series transmissions fit all L series motors possibly with the exception of a much larger pressure plate rubbing the inside of the early L16 four speed case. They are all the same bolt pattern

I believe the 610 4 speed and the automatic are both 31.5" long and as started previously will bolt to other L 4s and 6s.

Ahhh. Well this is not a good idea. First it does not fit lengthwise so you would have to cut out the fire wall and loose your heater (or worse) or move the rad to the trunk. The L26 oil pan won't fit the cross member. It is simply not worth the trouble to find out and the car ends a cut up mess that can't be returned to original and is scrapped. This is a sad end for any car. My advice is get a KA24E or KA24DE or some other 4 cylinder. This is a well documented and successful swap. Same power as the L26 but with more after market support and the power is expandable... so much lighter. The last thing any car needs is MORE front end weight. It ruins the handling.
