Andres131313
I had to take apart the ignition on my 78' datsun 510. The pins had broken and wouldn't slow the key to turn without wiggling the key for 10 mins. So I took it apart and removed the actual switch in the back of the ignition. I can use a screw driver to turn it to on and the wheel is unlocked. I used a huge nail and touched it to the positive and negative terminals to crank the starter. My question is can I just run 2 wires from the 2 terminals on the starter to a push button inside? Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
You still need a switch to turn the ignition to ON as well as the push button START. Unless you are saying only the START position is jammed? If you take your time the key cylinder can be removed and the pins and springs removed. Now the key has nothing to jam against. True you could start the truck with a popsicle stick, but no one knows this. Quote Link to comment
