Kerrigan
I bought a shelf-queen Nikki fuel pump which looks like it is from around 1971-2 and is probably for a B210 etc. It looks the same as my original one on the 1971 FairladyZ, except for the actuating arm and lower casting. I'm wondering, without tearing it apart, if the guts (diaphram, rubber valves, etc) are the same as the one off the Z. If they are, I might be able to save my original pump by swapping in the parts. Don't want to tear it apart if the guts won't interchange; could sell it to someone wanting a "new condition" B210 pump ... Anybody been into these pumps? Thanks!! Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
whats the part number? Quote Link to comment
Kerrigan
whats the part number? No box. Which kind of number format would I see on the pump somewhere? The original has the date stamp of 1501, which I'm told means the pump was made in May 1971 ... which would be in the window we've determined for the build-date .. sometime around 5/71 ... datzenmike
If '71 it would be a 1200, the B-210 was '74 and up. The two, one way valves may be the same, maybe the diaphragm. Couldn't find the individual part numbers. Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
nikki on the left mount (lower casting?) from outside ends horizontally this is for an l series , im thinking it is most likely the same diaphragm and innards just different arms, but with diff. arms might come diff. fuel pressure ? A series not needing as much as a L6 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Fuel pressure is regulated by a relief valve inside. Quote Link to comment
Kerrigan
The rebuild kit I bought had one rubber valve, the main diaphram with rod, and the upper gasket. No o-rings (I do have those). Do I need both the rubber valves (part #7) to do the job or is it safe to reuse the best of the two inside? When I tried to post it with a pasted-in .jpg image of the pump diagram, it gave me this message: "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." Quote Link to comment
Kerrigan
The original on the this Z has three mounting holes and the spring is longer, going down into the center of the arm. nikki on the left mount (lower casting?) from outside ends horizontally this is for an l series , im thinking it is most likely the same diaphragm and innards just different arms, but with diff. arms might come diff. fuel pressure ? ggzilla
Isn't the pressure regulated by the large spring? I would use all the new rubber parts. Quote Link to comment
