Dats Right
I am trying to pull the mechanical fuel pump off the engine to put on a new gasket, but am having trouble with the bolts, one nut comes off easy, but when i get 3/4 out with the other the bolt stud starts to spin and the nut jams, i realize there coukld be some rough threads there causing this, but what happens if i keep loosening this entire stud, for fear of something bad happening i stopped and tightened i tback up with the same old gasket. is it ok to pull the stud out or is there a method to force the nut off while stopping the stud from spinning somehow. i imagined something cataclysmic like hearing a nut fall off on the inside of the cam housing, though i assume the stud threads only into the housing itself, any ideas? TENDRIL
its fine if you remove the stud with the bolt. than once you get it off take the nut off, and re- install the stud and back to normal. , 1 Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Fuel pump studs on a four cylinder L engine hold only the fuel pump. Do not forget the plastic spacer between the fuel pump, and head. Head, gasket, spacer, gasket, fuel pump, flat washer, lock washer, nuts. The studs, nuts, and head are all threaded M8-1.25. Quote Link to comment
