boonedock saints
OK, just being a bit lazy because I forgot to measure. IM searching for matching breathers on Ebay for the L2.6 motor...IM not sure what size the groument has to be on either or....for the block Im thinking 25mm....there are some 18mm on Ebay..but not sure they will fit. The valve cover one...not sure 12mm?...direction would be nice...would like to order today if I can. Thanks guys. B) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I would leave the block breather alone. It's connected to the PCV valve which uses a small amount of vacuum from the intake to slowly draw fresh clean air into the block through the valve cover vent and draw out the combustion blow by and damp moisture laden air inside the block and burn it. The PCV valve is one of the reasons motors last as long as they do today. Before about '62 crankcases were vented much as you are planning to do. Oil became contaminated and dirty much sooner and needed changing more often. The PCV system is totally benign is operation and does nothing but good. The valve cover pipe is connected to the air filter housing so it gets filtered air. Nothing is needed to be done to it. Quote Link to comment

Great advice, and would leave alone, but all the OEM stuff is gone...carbs,vents all the connectors and what not. Now the 4 barrel carb air filter is very skinny, and not sure it seal s as good as OEM, so was thinking of both vets to a remote tank with a breather or just throw two breathers on the open vents. Since the direction of this build is very Ratsun....lol...and not OEM...we will more then likely go with seperate venting....if there was a large investment in the motor we may have taken a different route...but thanks for the great advice, it is on point.
