I think the 07W head has 'T83' cast into it. Remove the rocker cover to see if '07W' is present. Maybe it will, maybe not - not all Nissan heads have the applied model code cast into the head.

For North America, Z22s only came with 07W heads - both the 720 Pickup and S110 "200SX".

These are the two heads used o the Z22 in the 720

11041-07W03.... also used on the Z22E on the 200sx and so will have injector ports cut into the tops of the intake port....

Z22 head is the bottom one with round ports.

Both use 07W in the part numbers. I looked at all Z20S / Z20E heads and the Z24, and there were none with a t83 in the part numbers. I have cc'd the Z22E, two Z22 from 720s and two Z24 and they had the same combustion camber volumes. The Z24 had squarish intake ports (see top head above) while the Z20 and Z22 were round with injector notches.

There is a special Z20S head available on the 720 with an estimated 45cc combustion chamber W04 casting that has two small quench areas on it.

Great info Mike.

MR202, I just found that T83 is a JDM head for Z22

Haha, it uses Datsun 1200 low-po cylinder head bolts. Torque the head bolts every 2 years!

Yep, it's from the 80s. And the way non-US motors got to the US is via "good used Japanese engine" sales - they sent the used motors over by the container load.

I do not know how it is different, but since it uses same gaskets, valves and camshaft as US engines, probably not too different. It used the same "D81" block as USA Z22 engines.

More on the head bolts.

The Z22 need no head gasket retorque if equipped with '13' bolts. Unmarked bolts I believe should be retorqued every 2 years/24000 miles.

'13' bolts are high-tensile Chromoly-V steel alloy. The low-performance bolts have no marking on the head. Remove the cam cover to verify which ones are installed. All USA engines should have the '13' bolts. But about 1/2 the JDM Z22s used the lo-po bolts.

hey thanks guys sorry it took a couple days, but my motor is out of an 82 truck and my head bolts are not marked and when i got the head off i found that the head gasket blew between 3 & 4 so im gunna get a timing set and gasket kit and make sure the heads good and i bought a cam and header to throw at it put the header on a while back but never put the cam in yet, the thing already ran reeealy good idk on hp but it had good power all the way through and sounds nasty with just weber header and 2.25 to a 2 chamber flowmaster with no tail pipe stopped right infront of the axle cant wait to see how she runs once the cams in, otherwise if you guys know of anything else i should do without going into the lower end while i have it apart any input would be verry much appreciated!!
