filthy forever
hey guys ive been on here for a while now and I am slowly starting to get my 720 build going. the ol L20b was tired and I came up on a hardbody KA with trans with 137xxx for such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. I know theres alot of work involved but I cant wait to get this cracking. anyways enough of the blabble heres some pics, sorry for the shitty quality I have a bad camera: butt shot  side view KA 5speed trans all cleaned up engine bay all cleaned up with mineral spirits single slammer ready for his new home hardbody (ugly as all hell) and s13 mani theres a lot of parts I still need but at least the balls rolling. Im dropping the L20 trans tomorrow and starting to do a mockup on the KA one. Once I figure out where it will be mounted and have a friend make me mounts if needed, a driveshaft shop is coming over to measure it and make me one. oh and im going to drop the fuel tank and clean it out with vinegar and maybe POR 15 it. parts needed coming up: redeyes mounts CAN AM fuel pump s13 wiring harness clutch pedal, master, and slave pathfinder throttle cable TPS MAF etc etc any advice is greatly appreciated 1 Quote Link to comment

jesusno2
Yes buy a TRE inline universal electric fuel pump. Under 100 bucks and they are super quiet. I just did the ka swap in my 86 720 Quote Link to comment
filthy forever
its been a really long time since ive updated this build thread, sorry. ive been doing my homework on what needs to be done to complete it and I think I have it figured out. went to the JY the other day and pulled a 240sx motor mount for the drivers side and a NAPZ for the passanger side, hopefully it works with a little redrilling. also pulled the pedal assembly for the 5speed swap, starter, radiator, MAF, TPS etc etc. in the next couple days ima mock up the engine and see how she fits, if all works out then bolt up the tranny (gotta figure out the tranny crossmember situation) put a new clutch kit on it, rear main and resurface the flywheel. hook up the pedal assembly with clutch master and slave and bleed then I can figure out the driveshaft situation and hook up an external fuel pump. then last but not least start the wiring :sneaky: sorry for the lack of pictures, ill borrow a camera and post some up. any advice, ideas, and criticism is more than welcome. Robert
I did this already. Grab the truck mount brackets for the frontier. and use your stock mounts (or new ones). 240sx mounts will make it sit much higher and angle your engine backwards...then you have messed up driveshaft angles and shifter sitting low. They are also anlge wrong and you will need to cut your frame perches or shimm them. Not too complicated but truck brackets easier to use. Other than that, everything will line up fine if your using the trucks tranny. Car tranny is about 2.5" longer BUT you have adjustment holes in your frame so that you can relocate your crossmember to match. You will need a new drive shaft if using the car tranny.
