72dat-sedan Posted September 7, 2013 Author Report Share Posted September 7, 2013 I bought this 1970 510 about 3 months ago. Fell in love with how rust free and strait the body is. So far iv got the motor and trans put in and along with the rear end drive line and axles. The motor is a l16 out of a 70 bluebird with a 219 head. Has a single weber 45 side draft. 72dat-sedan Posted September 7, 2013 Author Report Share Posted September 7, 2013 I have hit a speed bump though. While I was hooking up the coil I noticed that the 12v ignition main was fried. The black/white wire. As I started looking more in to it I found out that it was fried all the way to the ignition. So now I'm in the process of pulling out the engine and dash harness to repair. jser12 Posted September 7, 2013 Report Share Posted September 7, 2013 Fair warning for the cannon manifolds, I've heard that due to their design, the 2nd and 3rd spark plugs get used and abused more than the outer ones. So expect to be changing them more frequently. Quote Link to comment

Anyone know if this is a keeper of should I put something else in. I want LSD but know sure what rought to go. I'm new to datsuns. Quote Link to comment
KlassicMotion Posted September 8, 2013 Report Share Posted September 8, 2013 R180 is unnecessary for that engine. Are you sure it's not the stock r160?... (just seems unusual to go to the effort for that setup). I look at it like this: My '06 WRX wagon with 250hp uses the r160... The STI stepped up to the r180, it has 300hp, but I think a lot of the decision came from wanting to cover their arses for the dumb-ass clutch droppers who would be buying the cars...
