I have hit a speed bump though. While I was hooking up the coil I noticed that the 12v ignition main was fried. The black/white wire. As I started looking more in to it I found out that it was fried all the way to the ignition. So now I'm in the process of pulling out the engine and dash harness to repair.

R180 is unnecessary for that engine.  Are you sure it's not the stock r160?... (just seems unusual to go to the effort for that setup).  I look at it like this:  My '06 WRX wagon with 250hp uses the r160...  The STI stepped up to the r180, it has 300hp, but I think a lot of the decision came from wanting to cover their arses for the dumb-ass clutch droppers who would be buying the cars...
