dkenn22@aol.com
Back for more help........ I'm sure everyone has the same problem....... the foam seals on my hood hinges have dried out and are crumbling. I have been searcing around and have pretty much given up on trying to find a new OEM or aftermarket set. I want to make some, but I was wondering if anyone knows how thick the original seals were? I'm guessing somewhere between 1/4" to 1/2". I'm not sure if they were originally closed cell foam or how dense the foam was when it was new. Any help would be appreciated from anyone that has already gone down this road. Thanks, Dave Quote Link to comment
pharouh
I made some out of an old rubber floor mat. I cut them to size and they were a press fit on the hinge. Works great. As far as I know,no one makes repros. Quote Link to comment
Dawa
hood hinge seals? are you saying there is a seal around the hold that our hood hinges recede into? Quote Link to comment
dkenn22@aol.com
Dawa, yeah there are black sponge-like seals that are glued to the oval plate on the hinge so that when you close the hood, air doesn't leak into the cab. I am going to take Pharouh's advice and just look for something that will work. Dave Quote Link to comment
