socaldatsun
So i am doing a KA24E swap on my 521. I have the front sup oil pan that i want to use and it clears everything except the drag link. It was already been flipped and put a spacer but it just isn't cutting it just yet. A rear sup will not work cause i don't have enough clearance for the sump to actually fit so front sump is my only option. this is how big of a spacer i am running, obviously the spacer is not on at the time. part of the oil pan it is hitting roughly how much i have to cut and i would still have to use the spacer with this. with out it i would have to cut up and im thinking i would trap alot of the oil on that back part of the oil pan is there any other way you guys would solve this? I have considered the good ol' heat gun and hammer method but was convinced not to just in case i puncture a hole in the pan. Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
few days later and no one has any tips/advise? I should be doing it this week and kinda dont wanna eff up the cut Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I looked at this but haven't really much to say that would help. Did you space the idler arm side as well?? Assume you will to keep the steering geometry symmetric. Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
yes both are spaced out evenly i havent checked yet but i think i might have to extend the oil pick up tube Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
this is what i kinda have in mind..but dont have much room http://image.superstreetonline.com/f/8990180+w750+st0/130_0703_06_z+nissan_240sx_rb25det_rb26dett_engine_swap+modified_rb26_oil_pan.jpg Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
sooooo quick question Is it possible to switch the tie rods and the center link on the idle arms? this would put the center link further back and completely clear my oil pan.. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It would make the steering wheel slightly harder to turn because the ratio will have changed. Not at all saying it won't work. Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
coming from drivers with no power steering x) so it WILL work only thing it will affect would be the amount of work you would have to make to turn the wheel? Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
so just got an idea. since you said that the ratio would have been flipped if i swap the position of the tie rods and center link. would i be able to put them both on the same bolt? the farther one to the rear. I am running heim joints its just one straight bolt all the way through. I could connect both joints on the same bolt. one on top of the arm and another on the bottom side. Quote Link to comment
