I have also been kicking around the idea of using the front axle out of a 2wd cherokee with leaves that way when/if I decide to convert to 4x4 all I would need to do is find a front axle and transfer case. datzenmike Posted January 31, 2013 Report Share Posted January 31, 2013 I stuffed a 4" lift on my '78 but... the steering column is one piece. The front is bolted to the frame and the other end to the body. When the body goes up, the column has to bend. I tried to tilt the box up slightly but not much help. A 2" lift would be better. Eventually I installed a 720 column. It is splined and will collapse in an accident and has a U joint to allow a bend. Lift away. Quote Link to comment
