ElephantPrint
Okay i put in a weber 32/36 manual choke, and it idles fine but as soon as i put it into gear it idles rough like its misfiring then i put it back into park and it idles fine, i checked timing and turns out its ok with new plugs and new wires, after i shut it off it starts to diesel and white smoke comes out of the carburetor. Any help will be appreciated thanks! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Check the gaskets and adapter plate are sealed and tight. Spray brake cleaner around base and see if idle changes.. this would indicate a vacuum leak. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
This will also happen if the idle mixture has not been adjusted properly. Quote Link to comment
ElephantPrint
I adjusted the idle mixture screw and now it doesnt diesel when i shut it off, but it still wont idle right when i put it in gear it just idles rough and stalls out. I already sprayed brake cleaner around the base and the idle didnt change at all Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Did you adjust the idle air/fuel mixture correctly? * Idle speed: 750 RPM * Idle mixture to best idle at 780 RPM, then lean down to 750 RPM The carb base is not the most common cause of vacuum leaks. Quote Link to comment
ElephantPrint
Well i assume i did because it doesnt diesel when i shut it off so thats great. i checked rpm with a timing light and it idles at 800 smooth but jumps around from 770 to 850. i will check for vaccuum leaks again today.
