I used to have an (overhauled) L16 in my 620 and it was slow as shit, i could simply not keep up with traffic. I just swapped an overhauled L20b in a month ago, and man i do not regret a single thing. Torque is way better and i can overtake cars on the highway in 5th gear! :)

Yes, L20B has more grunt. But on the other hand, shift down 2 gears and let the L16 sing, and it will keep up with traffic. But a lot of guys don't like to shift so much. And a 5-speed means even more shifting. One reason for the L20B. Even Datsun decided a 620 was better with L20B.

Unless you've lost all your senses.

What's wrong with the original L16 engine? It makes almost as much power at 7000 RPM as the L20B will at 5000 RPM.

What's wrong with letting an L20B rev to 7K? ;)

Personally, I like revs, but IMO the L20B is a more fun motor to run on the street. OR an L18. Can't argue with short stroke goodness.
