choleaoum
Hey so I finally got the SR20 about to be swapped in, did not realize it was pretty annoying to get the transmission into the well. But with little to minor scuffs on my paint, I almost got the engine in! So my question is, nothing seems caught, but the engine is not lining up into the motor mount. It's about 5 inches apart. No matter how hard I push that shit it doesn't seem to budge. Any suggestions? Nothing seems to be caught, maybe I'll have someone go under and pull the transmission towards them as I push the engine. It got dark, and cold so I'm going to stop. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
post pics of your motor mount set up we need more info what x member what mounts what transmission mount Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, look underneath and check the transmission position. We had trouble last month lining up the engine mount brackets to the rubber isolators. Looked like it wouldn't go, but in the end with some patience it did. Quote Link to comment
choleaoum
I don't have a transmission mount yet, I just threw it in to mock it up. I'm using the stock 510 mount, I was told I could just use a spacer to raise the engine up. The crossmember is cut and welded and flipped. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
how thick of a spacer did you use ? i used just under a 1/2 inch. get one side on leave the bolt loose slide a jack under the transmission level the engine out get a pry bar and see if you can squeeze the other mount on. it is easier with 2 people Quote Link to comment
choleaoum
Im not using a spacer yet. I just wanted to see what happens if I don't run one. And I have it jacked up in the rear right now, Im gonna try and get under there and pry it again. Anyone have a picture of the spacer they made? Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
i did it quick and dirty http://community.ratsun.net/topic/27195-box-flares-ftw/page__st__280 Quote Link to comment
choleaoum
Hmmm, what would happen if I don't run the spacer? And you said you ran 25mm's? Where can I even find a block of aluminum lol, I don't think my local home depot sells it. It appears that the pipe for the heater core on the SR20 is hitting the firewall. Was that supposed to be removed? Or it might be the turbo water line.. doing more research now. Whatever the line is that is behind the engine. Quote Link to comment

choleaoum
Here's the firewall, the heater tube is hitting it. Here's how far apart the motor mount is. Checked everything over 20 times, nothing else is caught or binding. The front of the car is on jackstands as well if that matters. Quote Link to comment
