SHORTDOG
Okay Guys, I am planning on adding on power steering (out of an ST model) to my 720 but my current steering box has a little play in it. My question is: Should i have my current steering box rebuilt? or does my current steering box get swapped out anyways when i install the power steering unit? Quote Link to comment
Alec 720
You will need to get your Steering box swapped out anyways. Because the Power steering Box is different then the non-power steering. The actual "power steering" is done in the steering box. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Some of the play can be removed by adjusting it. By far the biggest cause is wear in the idler arm and tie rod ends. Just 1/8" of slack accumulated in all the steering components is magnified by the 19 to 1 ratio of the steering gears and will add up to over 2 1/3" of slop in the steering wheel. Improperly adjusted wheel bearings can also add to this. 1 Quote Link to comment
