machowgn
Ok I hope someone here might have some info on this: I have a 74 620 pickup with a dealer installed 4x4 conversion, jeep running gear I was told. the motor is an L-18, only 67k on it, just adjusted the valves and added a matchbox dizzy, webber 32/36. I now need to go thru the brakes. the truck has a small brake booster, drum brakes all around, open knuckle front end. i was thinking of adding discs up front, or just going thru the original, does anybody have any info on these conversions? I believe the front is a dana 30 with a twin stick dana 20 transfer case, not sure about the rear end? any help would be great, machowgn. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Find a wagoneer with a Dana 44 (76-91 I believe). You'll want to find one with the flat top knuckles which will enable hi clearance steering later. One with manual hubs wouldn't hurt either. Some are full time hubs, the axle is disconnected with a vacuum actuator instead of at the hub. These were used in the 80's http://77cj.littlekeylime.com/flatop_knucles.html Grab everything from the knuckle out and swap all of the pieces to your Dana 30. Instant 6-lug vented rotor disc brake conversion. You might want to install new ball joints while you have it apart. Edit: Let's see some pic's :D Quote Link to comment
