joel.graeme Posted July 5, 2012 Report Share Posted July 5, 2012 i have just bought myself an original 65 520, without working rear drum brakes. i would like to know if there are brake drum kits that will fit straight on without changing wheel size or major modifications, im from australia so US products are hard for me to get. mklotz70 Posted July 5, 2012 Report Share Posted July 5, 2012 I haven't done it personally, but I've heard of guys putting 620 backing plates and brakes on their 520/521's. The difference is that the 620 stuff will be metric....you'll have to flare a new nut onto the brake line or get an adapter......but at least parts are still available for the 620 stuff. If you have all the parts, they just don't work, you can probably just get wheel cylinders and shoes and get them working again. If your parts store doesn't show a listing for your truck because it's too old.....try having them look under a later year. The 521 should have had the exact same brakes. Quote Link to comment
