DaveOtter
So I'm playing with my new (to me) 520, and I notice that the 1300engine/transmission are mated via an adapter plate. Is that the way they did it back in the day or has someone done something somehow? Thanks Dave Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
It's stock. The E1 and J-series vehicles used adapter plates, which makes it possible to swap transmissions if you can fabricate a new plate. Quote Link to comment
LAYEDOUTB2K
that just answered something that i had been wondering about. a local guy has an NL and has a floor shifting tranny. i was wondering if it was a bolt on swap or if something else was up. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The 1965 320s had floor shifters stock, but the trans wasn't the same as the 520/521 trans (or at least '67 on. My '68 520 has the same tranny as a 510, but with the different bell). The prior owner of my '64 put in the one from her '65 parts truck . I didn't even know they came in column shifter until I got a service manual (and started seeing 320s come out of the woodwork). After examining the "spare" trans I got with the 320, I finally noticed it was side-shift (for the column linkage). Quote Link to comment
