ddrum
As i was taking off the old rod bearings from the piston rods, I found some wear on the rod oil hole. Has anyone seen this before? Is it common? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
There can't be any wear in this area as the bearing covers it. I just happen to have a random Z24 rod beside my computer so I took an oic of it. Looks like they all have this feature... The only reason I can see for this chamfered edge around the hole it to make it larger under the bearing hole area above it. So if the bearing oil hole is slightly off center it will still be over the larger hole beneath it. Quote Link to comment

datsunaholic
It's not "wear" as much as erosion. It seems to correspond with the hole in the bearing backing plate. Not a big deal. Quote Link to comment
